Tampa Bay is known for its sparkling waters, vibrant arts, and diverse communities. At the center of this region sits St. Petersburg, a city that blends coastal beauty with neighborhood charm. From the shores of Coffee Pot Bayou to the tree-lined streets of Meadowlawn, St. Pete offers unique places to live, work, and gather. For us at Gulf Coast Community Church, this city is more than a backdrop — it is the mission field God has placed us in. Our priorities are to love our neighbors, make disciples, strengthen families, and partner with local ministries so that God’s kingdom is displayed in every corner of St. Pete, from downtown to the Gateway district.
Downtown St. Pete is the cultural core of the city. Along Beach Drive, residents and visitors enjoy locally loved spots like The Canopy at Birchwood and stroll past waterfront views of Vinoy Park. The Dali Museum and the St. Pete Pier anchor downtown’s identity, while the Saturday Morning Market brings together farmers, artisans, and neighbors.
Our church also sees downtown as a hub for outreach. Through ministry at USF St. Petersburg, we have come alongside students navigating life, faith, and purpose in the heart of the city. We want to encourage the next generation of leaders to know Christ and live out their calling right where they study and work.
Fossil Park: A Hub for Recreation and Families
Just a few miles north of downtown, Fossil Park has been a landmark for youth sports since the 1950s. The Willis S. Johns Recreation Center hosts baseball, pickleball, and swimming, making it a gathering spot for families. Our church has been privileged to host a free youth baseball clinic at Fossil Park for the past three years, encouraging young athletes and supporting parents.
Meadowlawn: Lakes and Local Schools
East of Fossil Park lies Meadowlawn, a neighborhood defined by its man-made lakes like Lynch Lake and Viking Lake. These waterways, created in the 1950s to manage flooding, now attract ibises, otters, and even the occasional manatee. At the heart of the neighborhood is Meadowlawn Park, where families gather for festivals and school events. Members of our congregation serve here through the Lunch Pals program at Meadowlawn Middle School and Lynch Elementary, mentoring students during the school day.
Barcley Estates: Suburban Tranquility
North of Fossil Park sits Barcley Estates, a quiet neighborhood with tree-lined streets and an active Barcley Estates Neighborhood Association. It’s near shopping hubs like Gateway Market Center and recreation options like Mangrove Bay Golf Course. When Hurricane Helene damaged the building of St. Pete Presbyterian Church, we partnered with them by sharing our space for Sunday worship and ministries like The James Club and Christian Cadets, strengthening ties across congregations.
Riviera Bay and Shore Acres: Waterfront Life
Heading east, Riviera Bay and Shore Acres offer waterfront living and boating access. Shore Acres, though impacted by storms in recent years, has shown resilience through strong civic engagement and family-centered events at the Shore Acres Recreation Center. These communities reflect both the beauty and vulnerability of living by the water, and they remind us as a church of the importance of compassion and service during times of need.
Allendale Terrace: Historic Charm
Closer to downtown, Allendale Terrace stands out as one of St. Pete’s historic neighborhoods. With brick streets, oak canopies, and homes dating back to the 1920s, Allendale has remained one of the city’s most sought-after residential areas. Its higher elevation also means it avoids many of the flood issues common elsewhere. Our church values neighborhoods like Allendale that remind us of the city’s heritage and the importance of legacy in community life.
Gateway: The Crossroads of Tampa Bay
The Gateway district is where St. Pete connects with Clearwater and Tampa. It is home to major employers like Raymond James Financial and Jabil, as well as residential developments like Ibis Walk. Its strategic location makes it a place where professionals, families, and newcomers intersect. Gulf Coast Community Church sits at this crossroads, allowing us to serve west Tampa, north St. Pete, and south Clearwater all from one place.
Our mission goes beyond our own neighborhood. We believe in gospel unity and collaboration with ministries serving across St. Pete and Tampa Bay:
These partnerships allow us to extend care where it is needed most — from classrooms to crisis situations to the next generation of leaders.
St. Petersburg is not just a collection of neighborhoods. It is a living mosaic of history, beauty, and community. Whether in the historic streets of Allendale, the ballfields of Fossil Park, the lakes of Meadowlawn, or the offices of Gateway, we see opportunities to love our neighbors and reflect the kingdom of God.
Gulf Coast Community Church believes our calling is to be rooted in St. Pete and reaching into Tampa Bay — building relationships, sharing resources, and serving alongside others to see God’s will done on earth as it is in heaven.
